5 DAYS TO FREEDOM - #DayThree

Clearing space for MORE of what matters (and less of what doesn’t)

We’ve spent that last 2 days reflecting and getting clear on what we want, who we are (and who we are becoming) and where we’re going. We’ve spent time working on our “inner world” and now it’s time to focus on our “outter” world, the world around us.

I don’t know about you, but I feel like a busy, chaotic, messy outter world makes me feel the OPPOSITE of free.

The physical stuff and clutter around me (on my office desk, in my work space, my kitchen, the piles of laundry in our spare bedroom, the stacks of mail on the dining room table, the cheerio explosion in my car) makes it hard for me to focus on what really matters.

The hundreds of emails in our inboxes, the notifications on our phones and the jam-packed calendar often leave us feeling frantic, anxious and overwhelmed.

These not-so-free feelings (anxious, stressed, overwhelmed, frantic, chaotic, anger, frustration… just to name a few) are not going anywhere unless we do something about the STUFF (the physical, mental and emotional stuff) that’s creating them.

P.s. If you're drawing a blank, here are some thing to consider...

How do you know if it should go? ... If it's not a HELL YES! It's a CLEAR NO - LET IT GO!

PHYSICAL – Clothes, home, office, untouched/forgotten areas.

Clothes - Do they fit physically? Do they fit who you are as a person/emotionally? If you haven't worn it in one year (or a little longer), get rid of it

Home - Does your home environment work well for you? Is there anything you no longer want or need? Is there anything that can be moved or rearranged to better serve your space?

Office/Work Space - This needs to be a space that makes you feel really GOOD. A place that you're excited about going to and being as productive as possible. Clutter in your work space can create a sense of distraction and overwhelm. What can you do to clear out + improve your office or work space?

Untouched/Forgotten Area - Closets, drawers, cabinets, storage spaces... Are they housing items that you know you will never need or use but let them stay cluttered out of convenience? Try not to keep clutter under your bed! - "clutter under the bed has its own energy, which can disturb sleep"

MENTAL – Social Media, email, scheduling, acknowledge negative self-talk

Social Media - Pay attention to the images and content that have made their way into your news feeds (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc.) - Is this content a positive or negative contribution to your life? UNFOLLOW, Unlike, disconnect from anything that is no longer serving you. Be intentional about what kind of messages and content you welcome into your space.

Email - If possible, get your inbox down to ZERO unread messages. Delete anything you don't want, need or know you won't read. UNSUBSCRIBE from mailing lists that you no longer wish to be apart of (hint: if you delete emails from certain people or companies on a daily basis without taking the time to read them then it's time to UNSUBSCRIBE.)

SCHEDULING - Take a look at your schedule. Is there anything coming up that you really don't have the time or energy to do? Is there something you do on a regular basis that you no longer want to do? Your time is your most precious & sacred resource - Work on removing and phasing out anything that takes up your time and no longer serves you.

Negative Self-Talk - Pay attention to that little voice in your head. How do you talk to yourself? Are you rude, critical, judgmental? When you catch yourself being anything other than kind and compassionate it's time to hit the PAUSE + REWIND button. Replace that thought with a new, more gentle + loving one. It's help to try talking to yourself the way that you would talk to your best friend when she needs comfort or the loving way you would talk to your child.

EMOTIONAL – Letting going, accepting, forgiving yourself and others.

What do you need to let go of in order to confidently and boldly move forward in your life and in this program? What are you holding on to that's no longer serving you? What are you holding on to that might be causing you anger, sadness, frustration, resentment?

Do you need to forgive yourself or someone else? Forgiveness is one of the best ways to release old, unwanted, stuck energy. If this sounds like you, WRITE IT OUT. Write a letter or jot down your thoughts about the situation, re-tell the story. Do whatever you need to to get it out AND then write... I NOW CHOOSE ___________________ " to create a new way of living + a new way of being.
